Spirits to Avoid as A Christian

There are numerous operations of the evil one against God’s people these days. Forces are being unleashed against God’s children in greater numbers, and you may find yourself doing things you never intended to do. There are forces exploiting our ignorance; these forces are the masters of darkness on this planet. They are spiritual beings with the goal of destroying our wonderful futures.

Spirits to Avoid as A Christian

The Spirit of the World.

“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God” (1 Corinthians 2:12, emphasis added). The world’s spirit is likewise a direct opponent of God’s things. What does this spirit request? The answer is found in First John chapter 2, verses 15-17:

“Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world.” If a man loves the world, he lacks the love of the Father. For everything in the world, the passion of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but of the world.”

The spirit of the world clearly dictates activities of the lust of the flesh in this passage. It keeps track of and arranges the lust for flesh, the lust for the eyes, and the pride of life. Many families on Earth have been destroyed by the spirit. That is why a person desires everything money can buy until the individual tires out the marriage; this is known as eye lust.

A guy or woman may also be wearing clothing that they cannot afford; these clothes may have been bought through debt. That person is held captive by the Spirit of the World through the lust of the flesh and eyes. These creatures work so quietly that we never hear a serpent’s footsteps.

The spirit of the world binds people to these laws. Some people are looking for cash for their firm, yet the products they own total more than the capital they require. Have you ever heard that holiness combined with contentment is a big gain?

When you are captured by what is in the world – the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life – you become an enemy of God. “Know ye not that worldly friendship is enmity with God?” “Whoever is a friend of the world is an enemy of God” (James 4, verse 4). No one who opposes God has a future.

The Spirit of Bondage

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba Father” (Romans 8:15, 16). People are bound down, locked up, and shackled down by the spirit of bondage.

This spirit is to blame for all of the ills that individuals experience. In Luke 13, verse 16, Jesus asked about the woman who had been afflicted for 18 years, “And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, to be loosed from this bond?” That is the bondage spirit. It is a mood of confinement.

For example, someone may be coughing and smoking while being told at the hospital that he has tuberculosis. He doesn’t want to die, but he continues to smoke and cough; the spirit of bondage possesses him. The spirit that promotes addiction to evil; everything that binds you to what you don’t desire is a bondage spirit.

The Spirit of Lies

“And the Lord asked him, ‘Wherewith?'” ‘I will go forth,’ he replied, ‘and I will be a deceptive spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ ‘Thou shalt persuade him and prevail over him,’ he answered. Go ahead and do it.” Verse 21 of 2 Chronicles 18. There is a spirit who lies. This may appear to be an anti-retina spirit; however, the devil will deceive you in this manner.

The spirit of deception is quite strong. Under its effect, you may even appear righteous and unmounted. It’s one of the reasons Jesus stated some people will spend eternally in hell. “But the fearful and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and warmongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death,” it is written. “This is the second death,” says the Bible (Revelations 21, verse 8).

Spirits of Disobedience

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the Prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1-2).

There’s a rebellious vibe in the air. That spirit’s ministry is to fulfill the flesh and mind cravings. The mind is where the spirit operates. This spirit works via disobedience and people moving through the flesh and mind to take people out of God’s presence so they can be afflicted and tormented. It works through the flesh and the mind to inflict God’s anger upon you.

Ephesians 2:1-2

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, [2 ]in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

However, Jesus gave us the ability to combat these evil forces. We are free from all bonds when we hold on to our rights in Jesus.

Declare: “Hear my voice, Prince of the Air, as of these spirits.” I am not under your power. Your influence will no longer have access to my life, my flesh, my thoughts, or anything else.”
